Although the roots of reggae music indeed come from Africa, it is necessary to mention that it had its development in Jamaica and its people. The people who developed this music were descendants of African slaves, who were brought to the island during colonial times.

Many of the African slaves who arrived in Jamaica had their musical forms and were of different origins. When these people were together on the island, it resulted in the unification of the different musical forms, creating what we now know as reggae.
